From the North:
Take 93 South to Exit 26 (Storrow Drive / North Station exit). Take the Government Center exit on the left. Go straight at flashing red light. Take a left onto Cambridge Street (the CVS and Spring Wells Market will be on your right). Cambridge Street turns into Tremont Street. The Orpheum Theatre is located at 1 Hamilton Place (an alley off of Tremont St), directly across from the Park Street Church. No parking is allowed on Hamilton Place.
From the South:
Take 93 North to Exit 23. Take the left lane of the exit ramp towards Government Center. Proceed straight through two sets of lights and take a left at the third light. Bear right and take a left at the light for Tremont St. Hamilton Place is on the left just before the third light on Tremont Street. The theatre is at the end of Hamilton Place. No parking is allowed on Hamilton Place.
From the East:
From I-90 West: Partial toll road take exit 25 toward South Boston. Turn left at Seaport Blvd and take the 3rd right onto Atlantic Ave. Turn left at State St and take a slight left at Tremont St. Turn left at Hamilton Pl. The Orpheum Theatre will be on the right.
From the West:
Take I-90 East (Mass Pike) to exit 24A toward South Station. Keep left at the fork to continue toward Atlantic Ave then take a slight right at Atlantic Ave. Turn left at State St and a Slight left at Tremont St. Turn left at Hamilton Pl. The Orpheum Theatre will be on the right.
Conveniently located near The Boston Commons, The Orpheum Theatre is accessible from the Park Street Station on the MBTA Red and Green Lines. There is also an Orange Line station one block away at Downtown Crossing. Please visit the MBTA website for details.
The Orpheum Theatre does not have a private parking lot. There are many parking garages nearby including but not limited to: Boston Common Garage and the Center Plaza Garage.
The Orpheum was built on the site of the Boston Music Hall in 1852. In 1900, the building was nearly gutted and rebuilt within the old walls for conversion into a vaudeville theatre. It reopened on February 12, 1905 as the Empire Theatre. When Percy Williams took over the theatre on September 3, 1906, it was renamed the Orpheum. It was then sold to Marcus Loew in 1910. Loew bought additional land and hired architect Thomas Lamb to design a new theatre. The new theatre was designed in the Adam style with expanded capacity. The proscenium arch was made of golden hued glass and illuminated from behind.
In January 1916, the theatre reopened hosting a combination of vaudeville and film. Vaudeville was replaced in the 1930’s with first-run double features. In 1965, film distributors dropped the exclusive first run policy for downtown theatres. This was a tough time for the Orpheum because it then had to compete with nearby theatres for first-run films. Loew’s abandoned the Orpheum Theatre on January 18, 1972. It was renamed the Aquarius and was once again a home for live performances. In May of 1974, Sarah Caldwell moved the Opera Company in and renamed it the Orpheum. The Washington Street entrance no longer exists. It now plays host to like performances booked by Live Nation.

All points of sale for food and beverage will accept credit or debit. Box Office and select locations for food, beverage, and merchandise will accept cash (American currency only).

LOST OR STOLEN TICKETS

Service Animals are allowed at shows but please no other animals.
All shows at the Orpheum are all ages unless otherwise indicated. For most performances babes in arms (up to 2 years old) may enter free of charge. All other children must have a ticket.
The consumption of alcohol is prohibited by patrons under the age of 21. Anyone violating this by law will be evicted and the alcohol will be confiscated without refund. To purchase alcoholic beverages, a patron must present a valid MA driver’s license, MA liquor ID, US passport or military ID, which indicates the patron to be at least 21 years of age. Duplicate licenses, expired licenses, damaged licenses and driver’s licenses which do not have photos will not be accepted. Patrons with MA ID cards will be required to present a second form of identification (e.g. credit card). Out of state licenses are acceptable only if the patron is at least 25 years of age. Patrons between the ages of 25-30 who provide an out-of-state driver’s license will be required to produce a second form of identification (e.g., credit card) Rhode Island patron’s between 21 and 30 years of age must present valid, non-duplicated state issued driver’s license and will be required to present a second form of identification (e.g., credit card). Any patron in the possession of alcoholic beverages on premises may be requested to produce identification which must satisfy the foregoing requirements. No refunds will be offered for confiscated beverages. Any patron who presents false identification or who passes alcohol to a minor may be subject to eviction and arrest. We will not serve more than two alcoholic beverages to a patron at one time and we reserve the right to limit service to one drink per patron. We will not serve any patron whom we believe to be intoxicated. Alcoholic beverages may not be taken into or removed from the premises. Any patron in the possession of alcoholic beverages not obtained on the premises will be subject to eviction. We retain the right to refuse any ID, and to refuse/cease service to any patron at any time. Patrons who are evicted or refused entry for violating the alcohol policy will not be issued a refund.
There is an ATM in the lobby of the Orpheum.
Please note, we have a new CLEAR BAG policy. To reduce staff contact with guest belongings, only the following bags are allowed:
-Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags (Maximum size: 12"x6"x12")
-Small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand (Maximum size: 4.5"x6.5")
All bags are subject to search by security.
Non-professional cameras (cameras without detachable lenses) ARE allowed into the club unless the artist prohibits for the night.
All types of recording devices are NOT allowed inside the club unless it is specifically allowed by the artist.
We ask that you use proper cell phone etiquette during a performance at the Orpheum Theatre. Please try to refrain from using your cell phone during a performance and if you must use it, please exit the seating area. Please note that some performances prohibit all cell phone use during show. Thank you for your cooperation.
There is limited food available on an event by event basis. Beer and wine are also available.

Re-Entry is not permitted.
For the safety of our guests, we make sure the Orpheum Theatre is fully staffed with security personnel. If you have a security issue, please contact a member of security at any time.
Smoking in the Orpheum Theatre is strictly prohibited. Any patron caught smoking will be evicted.
RESTRICTED ITEMS LIST
Guests, including law enforcement personnel not present in an official capacity, are prohibited from bringing weapons into the venue. We do not provide weapon lockers. Weapons may not be checked in. Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, projectiles of any kind, knives and weapon replicas. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the venue or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will be evicted from the premises.
Drugs, drug paraphernalia, illegal substances of any kind, Go-Pros, selfie sticks, masks, laser pointers, professional audio or video equipment, unsealed liquids or gels, jewelry or clothing that could inflict harm, stuffed animals or toys
